High Temperature Rod
Product Details

Nimonic 80A high temperature alloy bar is a high-performance nickel-chromium alloy known for its exceptional strength and resistance to high-temperature oxidation and corrosion. Specifically engineered for applications requiring stability at elevated temperatures, Nimonic 80A is widely used in aerospace, industrial gas turbines, and other high-stress environments. Its high-temperature strength, good fatigue resistance, and ability to withstand oxidation make it the ideal choice for critical components such as aircraft engine rotor blades.
High-Temperature Strength
Nimonic 80A maintains exceptional mechanical properties at temperatures up to 980°C (1800°F). Its ability to retain strength under high thermal stress makes it the material of choice for components exposed to extreme heat, such as turbine blades and other rotating machinery.
Corrosion and Oxidation Resistance
The alloy is resistant to oxidation and corrosion, particularly at elevated temperatures, ensuring long-lasting performance even in harsh environments such as combustion chambers and turbine engines.
Fatigue and Fracture Resistance
With excellent fatigue performance and fracture toughness, Nimonic 80A offers high reliability in applications subjected to cyclic loading and high-stress conditions. This is especially important in turbine blades, which experience constant thermal and mechanical stress.
Good Weldability
Nimonic 80A can be easily welded using conventional welding techniques, making it suitable for various manufacturing processes. It is commonly welded for assembling complex engine components.

Melting
The alloy is melted using an electric arc or induction furnace to ensure the high purity and chemical composition required for demanding applications.
Casting
After melting, the material is cast into ingots, which undergo homogenization heat treatment to ensure uniformity and eliminate segregation of the alloying elements.
Forging
The ingots are hot-forged at temperatures above 1100°C to form the desired shape and refine the microstructure, improving mechanical properties.
Hot Rolling
Hot rolling is done to reduce the thickness of the material and to achieve the required dimensions, ensuring that the final product meets the necessary performance criteria.
Annealing
The alloy is annealed at temperatures between 900–950°C to relieve internal stresses and improve its ductility, making it easier to machine and form.
Finishing
The rods are cut to the required lengths and undergo surface treatments, such as grinding and polishing, to improve surface finish and corrosion resistance.
