Manufacturing Process of Nimonic80A High Temperature Superalloy Rod

  1. Melting
The production process begins with the melting of high-purity raw materials in an electric arc furnace or induction furnace. The molten metal is refined to remove impurities, achieving the desired chemical composition.

  2. Casting
After refining, the alloy is cast into ingots. These ingots undergo homogenization heat treatment to eliminate segregation and ensure uniformity of the material.

  3. Forging
The ingots are then subjected to hot-forging at temperatures above 1100°C. This process refines the microstructure and enhances the mechanical properties of the alloy, ensuring it meets stringent quality standards.

  4. Hot Rolling
The forged material is hot-rolled to achieve the final dimensions of the rods. Hot rolling helps to improve the directional properties of the alloy, ensuring its strength and stability.

  5. Annealing
After rolling, the rods are annealed at temperatures around 900-950°C to relieve internal stresses and enhance ductility. This step prepares the rods for final machining and use in high-performance applications.

  6. Finishing
The final step involves cutting the rods to the required lengths and applying surface treatments, such as grinding, polishing, or coating, to enhance performance and protect the material from environmental factors.
