Product Information:
Incoloy 825 Bar is a highly corrosion-resistant nickel-iron-chromium-molybdenum superalloy, designed for use in aggressive environments where high temperature and corrosion resistance are critical. This alloy, with an austenitic structure, is commonly used in industries such as oil and gas, chemical processing, marine engineering, and pollution control. Available in hot-rolled bars, cold-drawn precision bars, and forged bars, Incoloy 825 bars come in a diameter range from 10 mm to 300 mm, with custom sizes available up to 500 mm.
The surface finish options include pickled, ground (Ra ≤ 0.8 μm), or electropolished, providing versatility depending on the application requirements. Incoloy 825 can be used in continuous service at temperatures up to 540°C (1000°F), and short-term exposure can withstand temperatures up to 815°C (1500°F). The material meets certifications such as NACE MR-0175/ISO 15156, ASME BPV Code Section VIII, and PED 2014/68/EU, ensuring its compliance with global standards.
Characteristics:
Incoloy 825 bars are known for their excellent corrosion resistance in aggressive environments, particularly in acidic and chloride-rich conditions.
Pitting/Stress Corrosion Resistance: Critical pitting temperature (CPT) >85°C in 6% FeCl₃ per ASTM G48.
Sulfuric Acid Resistance: Corrosion rate <0.1 mm/year in 50% H₂SO₄ at 65°C (per ASTM G31).
Chloride Ion Tolerance: Withstands >10,000 ppm Cl⁻ in seawater without crevice corrosion.
Hydrogen Embrittlement Immunity: No cracking after 200-hour testing in H₂S-saturated brine (NACE TM0177).
Phase Stability: No sigma phase formation after 10,000 hours at 550°C.
Weldability: Compatible with TIG and MIG welding (ERNiCrMo-3 filler recommended).


Technology:
Manufacturing Process:
Triple Melt Process (VIM + ESR + VAR) to achieve superior material purity (S < 0.005%, O₂ < 20 ppm).
Controlled Rolling at 950–1100°C to achieve ASTM grain size 5-7.
Heat Treatment:
Solution annealing at 980–1030°C (1800–1900°F) with water quenching.
Stabilization at 720°C (1330°F) for 4 hours to precipitate TiC carbides.
Quality Control:
Intergranular corrosion testing per ASTM G28 Method A.
Eddy current testing for surface defects (sensitivity ≤0.1 mm).
Hydrogen charging tests for oil/gas compliance.

Theory:
Incoloy 825’s corrosion resistance is derived from its unique metallurgical composition:
Molybdenum-Copper Synergy: Mo provides pitting resistance in chloride environments, while Cu enhances resistance to reducing acids like H₂SO₄ and HCl.
Titanium Stabilization: Ti combines with residual C to form TiC, preventing Cr-depletion at grain boundaries.
Nickel Matrix Dominance: High Ni content (>40%) ensures stability in both oxidizing and reducing environments.
Passive Layer Formation: Cr₂O₃-MoO₃ oxide film with self-healing capability in pH 2–12 environments.
