Key Characteristics
Extreme Temperature Stability:
Continuous service up to 815°C with oxidation resistance (mass loss <2 mg/cm² after 1,000 hours at 900°C per ASTM G54).
Creep rupture strength: 120 MPa at 700°C/10,000 hours (per ASTM E139).
Phase Stability:
No detrimental σ-phase formation below 850°C (verified by Thermo-Calc simulations).
Corrosion Resistance:
Sulfidation resistance in H₂S-containing environments up to 550°C (corrosion rate <0.1 mm/year per NACE TM0177).
Resistance to carburization in hydrocarbon processing (carbon penetration <0.5 mm after 5 years at 650°C).

Carbon Control: Optimal C content (0.05–0.10%) promotes M₂₃C₆ carbide precipitation at grain boundaries, enhancing creep resistance without compromising ductility.
Solid Solution Strengthening: Ni-Cr matrix with Ti/Al additions stabilizes FCC structure against phase transformation.
Oxidation Mechanism:
Dual-layer oxide formation:
Outer layer: Cr₂O₃ (chromia) for oxygen barrier.

Low coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE: 14.5 µm/m·°C, 20–600°C) minimizes thermal stress during cycling.
