High temperature alloy bar refers to a type of metal material based on iron, nickel, and cobalt, which can work for a long time at high temperatures above 600℃ and under certain stress. It offers high-temperature strength, good oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance, good fatigue performance, fracture toughness, and other comprehensive properties. High-temperature alloys are typically single-phase austenite structures, which provide good organizational stability and reliability across a broad temperature range.

Due to the high degree of alloying and excellent performance characteristics, these alloys are also called “superalloys.” They are critical materials widely used in aviation, aerospace, petroleum, chemical industries, and shipbuilding. Based on the matrix elements, high-temperature alloys are divided into iron-based, nickel-based, cobalt-based, and other high-temperature alloys. For instance, iron-based high-temperature alloys can generally only withstand temperatures up to 750–780°C, whereas nickel-based and refractory metal-based alloys are employed for heat-resistant parts used at higher temperatures. Nickel-based alloys, in particular, are widely used for producing the hottest parts of aviation jet engines and industrial gas turbines.

Manufacturing Process

  1. Melting
    The process begins by melting high-purity raw materials in an electric arc furnace or induction furnace. The molten metal is then refined to remove impurities and achieve the desired chemical composition.

  2. Casting
    After refining, the alloy is cast into ingots. These ingots undergo homogenization heat treatment to eliminate segregation and enhance uniformity.

  3. Forging
    The ingots are hot-forged at temperatures exceeding 1100°C to achieve the desired shape and grain structure. This crucial step refines the microstructure and improves the mechanical properties of the alloy.

  4. Hot Rolling
    Following forging, the material is hot-rolled to reduce thickness and achieve the final bar dimensions, enhancing the alloy's directional properties.

  5. Annealing
    The rolled bars undergo annealing at temperatures between 900–950°C to relieve internal stresses and improve ductility, making it easier for final machining.

  6. Finishing
    After annealing, the bars are cut to the required lengths, and surface treatments such as grinding, polishing, or coating are applied to protect against environmental damage.
