Melting
The alloy process begins with melting high-purity raw materials in an electric arc furnace or induction furnace. The molten metal is then refined to remove impurities and ensure the desired chemical composition is achieved.
Casting
Once refined, the alloy is cast into ingots. These ingots undergo homogenization heat treatment to eliminate segregation and improve uniformity, ensuring the final product meets high-quality standards.
Forging
The ingots are hot-forged at temperatures above 1100°C to shape them and refine their grain structure. This step is crucial for improving the alloy’s mechanical properties, ensuring it performs reliably in high-stress environments.
Hot Rolling
The forged material is then hot-rolled to reduce thickness and achieve the final dimensions for bars or rods. This process enhances the alloy’s directional properties, which are crucial for certain aerospace applications.
Annealing
To relieve internal stresses and improve ductility, the material undergoes annealing at temperatures around 900-950°C. This ensures that the final product is ready for machining and use in high-performance applications.
Finishing
The final step involves cutting the bars or rods to the required lengths and applying necessary surface treatments, such as grinding, polishing, or coating, to protect the alloy from environmental factors.
