Precision Alloy Rod
Product Details
The 1J50 Magnetic Shielding Bar, also known as Low-Frequency Shielding Rod, Nickel-Iron Soft Magnetic Alloy Bar, or Electromagnetic Shield Bar, is a specialty nickel-iron alloy designed to block or redirect low-frequency magnetic fields. It is composed of approximately 50% Nickel and 50% Iron, offering excellent permeability and magnetic softness, making it ideal for sensitive electromagnetic interference (EMI) control.
These bars are typically gray to silver in appearance and offered in various diameters and lengths according to customer needs. Standard dimensions range from Ø3mm to Ø80mm, with lengths up to 1000mm.
Exceptional Initial and Maximum Magnetic Permeability
Low Eddy Current Loss for improved shielding efficiency
Non-Oriented Structure for isotropic magnetic properties
Smooth Surface and Uniform Density for consistent shielding performance
Custom Machinability for enclosures, sleeves, and shields
The shielding-grade 1J50 bar is manufactured using vacuum induction melting, followed by hot rolling or forging and precision cold drawing. After shaping, the bar undergoes controlled atmosphere hydrogen annealing to remove internal stress and optimize magnetic domain alignment. The final product demonstrates reliable performance in magnetic shielding applications, especially in the 50Hz–10kHz frequency range.
Magnetic shielding with 1J50 is based on the principle of magnetic flux diversion. Due to its high permeability, the alloy provides a path of least resistance for magnetic field lines. Instead of penetrating through sensitive equipment, the field is captured and guided through the 1J50 enclosure, thereby protecting internal components from magnetic interference.
This passive shielding is especially effective in low-frequency magnetic environments, such as power transformers, current-carrying conductors, or industrial machinery.
1J50 Shielding Bars are widely used in:
1. Magnetic Field Shielding Enclosures: For laboratories, MRI systems, or electronic testing equipment
2. Transformer and Reactor Cabinets: To reduce stray magnetic flux leakage
3. Low-Frequency EMI Protection Housings: In aerospace, medical, or communication systems
4. Current Sensor Enclosures: Enhancing signal precision by isolating external fields
5. Audio Equipment and Precision Amplifiers: For preventing magnetic noise and distortion
