Precision Alloy Wire
Product Details
Product Description
Product Summary
1J85 Alloy Wire is a high-performance magnetic wire developed for use in sensitive magnetic shielding and transformer core winding applications. Often called magnetic shielding wire or precision permalloy wire, it offers high initial permeability and excellent magnetic saturation performance. Made from iron-nickel-molybdenum alloy, this wire is capable of providing stable, low-loss magnetic conductivity in both AC and DC circuits.
Physical and Chemical Features
Material Composition: Fe-Ni-Mo with Ni content around 80%
Wire Gauge Range: 0.08mm – 2.0mm
Magnetic Saturation: ~0.8 Tesla
Magnetic Permeability: Up to 70,000
Thermal Stability: Operates up to 450°C
Coil Types: Available in tightly wound spools or bobbins
Primary Applications
EMI and magnetic shielding enclosures
Pulse transformers
Precision inductors and magnetic circuits
Aerospace and medical electronics
How It Works
When exposed to external magnetic fields, the 1J85 wire effectively redirects or contains the flux within its structure due to its superior permeability. This makes it an ideal material for shielding sensitive equipment from magnetic interference or designing compact transformer cores with minimal energy loss.

FAQ
Q1: What’s the typical shielding effectiveness of 1J85 wire?
A1: It depends on thickness and configuration but generally offers 30–50 dB attenuation in EMI ranges.
Q2: Is 1J85 wire flexible enough for tight coil windings?
A2: Yes, it’s mechanically soft and suitable for fine winding applications.
Q3: Does it require protective coating after installation?
A3: For high-humidity environments, protective coatings are recommended to prevent oxidation.
