Incoloy Alloy Wire
Product Details
Incoloy 925 is a nickel-iron-chromium alloy with excellent high-temperature strength and corrosion resistance, especially in extreme environments. The alloy contains a substantial amount of nickel, along with chromium, molybdenum, and small amounts of titanium and aluminum. It is highly resistant to stress corrosion cracking, oxidation, and other forms of degradation, making it ideal for high-performance applications in industries such as oil and gas, chemical processing, and aerospace.
Material Composition:
Nickel (Ni): 42% – 46%
Chromium (Cr): 19% – 23%
Iron (Fe): ≤ 30%
Molybdenum (Mo): 3% – 4%
Titanium (Ti): 1.5% – 2.5%
Aluminum (Al): 0.2% – 0.6%
Copper (Cu): 1%
Silicon (Si): 0.5%
Color: Metallic, with a silver-gray appearance.
Dimensions: Available in various wire diameters ranging from 0.1 mm to 10 mm, with a variety of wire lengths depending on customer specifications.
Form: Precision wire, typically used for electrical and thermal applications.
High Temperature Resistance: Incoloy 925 can withstand temperatures up to 980°C (1800°F) without significant degradation, making it suitable for high-temperature applications.
Corrosion Resistance: This alloy exhibits outstanding resistance to various corrosive environments, including sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, seawater, and other aggressive media.
Stress Corrosion Cracking (SCC) Resistance: The material has exceptional resistance to SCC, particularly in chloride-containing environments.
Excellent Weldability: Incoloy 925 can be welded using conventional methods without significant loss of strength or corrosion resistance.
Good Creep and Fatigue Resistance: Incoloy 925 maintains its strength even under prolonged exposure to high stress and temperature, making it ideal for parts subjected to continuous pressure or cyclic stress.
Incoloy 925 is produced using high-precision manufacturing techniques to ensure uniformity in wire diameter, strength, and resistance to corrosion. The alloy undergoes strict quality control procedures during production, including heat treatment to enhance its properties.
Manufacturing Process: The wire is created using hot and cold rolling techniques followed by a precise drawing process to achieve the desired wire size. This ensures that the alloy maintains its excellent mechanical properties, including high tensile strength and resistance to thermal expansion.
Heat Treatment: Incoloy 925 undergoes an optimized heat treatment process to enhance its corrosion resistance and strength, especially at elevated temperatures.
Incoloy 925 works by utilizing the inherent properties of nickel, chromium, and molybdenum to resist degradation from high temperatures and corrosive environments. The alloy’s principal mechanism for high-temperature stability is the formation of a protective oxide layer, which prevents further oxidation and corrosion.
Oxidation Resistance: At high temperatures, Incoloy 925 forms a stable oxide film that prevents further degradation of the base material.
Corrosion Resistance: The combination of molybdenum and chromium provides enhanced resistance to corrosion, particularly in sulfuric and phosphoric acid environments.
Strength at High Temperatures: The material’s high nickel content ensures that it remains strong even in high-temperature settings, maintaining its structural integrity over time.
Incoloy 925 is widely used in a range of industries where high temperature, corrosion, and stress are common. Below are the key applications:
Downhole Equipment: Incoloy 925 is used in high-performance downhole tools and equipment for drilling and production, especially in environments where sulfur or hydrogen sulfide is present.
Heat Exchangers: The alloy is used in heat exchangers for oil and gas refineries due to its ability to withstand high temperatures and corrosive fluids.
Gas and Oil Pipelines: Incoloy 925’s resistance to stress corrosion cracking makes it an excellent material for pipeline applications in offshore and deepwater fields.
Chemical Reactors: Incoloy 925 is ideal for use in chemical reactors that involve corrosive environments, particularly those processing sulfuric acid or phosphoric acid.
Storage Tanks: The alloy is also used in storage tanks that require high-temperature and corrosion-resistant materials.
Turbine Blades and Components: The alloy’s high temperature and oxidation resistance make it ideal for turbine blades and other high-stress aerospace components.
Aircraft Exhaust Systems: Incoloy 925 is used in aircraft exhaust systems, which are exposed to extreme conditions of temperature and chemical exposure.
Offshore Platform Equipment: Its resistance to seawater and chloride environments makes Incoloy 925 an ideal choice for marine platforms and subsea equipment.
Corrosion-Resistant Coatings: Used as a coating on metals exposed to marine environments.
