Precision Alloy Wire
Product Details
Product Description
Product Overview
1J85 Soft Magnetic Alloy Wire is a high-nickel, high-permeability magnetic alloy wire composed mainly of iron, nickel (approximately 80%), and molybdenum. This alloy is also known by its international equivalents such as Permalloy 1J85 wire or Fe-Ni-Mo soft magnetic wire. With its exceptional magnetic permeability and low coercivity, 1J85 is widely used in precise electromagnetic applications that demand accurate and efficient magnetic response.
Material Characteristics
Chemical Composition: Fe-Ni-Mo (Ni ≈ 80%)
Color: Bright metallic silver
Standard Diameters: 0.05mm – 2.0mm (custom sizes available)
Surface: Bright, smooth, free from oxidation
Density: ~8.7 g/cm³
Curie Point: Around 450°C
Electrical Resistivity: ~0.55 μΩ·m
Packaging: Coils, spools, or straight rods
Key Applications
Magnetic sensors and shielding
Transformers and inductors
Magnetic heads for audio and storage devices
Choke coils and precision magnetic circuits
Working Principle
The 1J85 wire operates by allowing magnetic flux to pass through it with minimal energy loss, thanks to its ultra-high initial and maximum permeability. It responds quickly to low magnetic field strength and is ideal in circuits where precise control of magnetic properties is required.

FAQ
Q1: What is the difference between 1J85 and standard permalloy?
A1: 1J85 contains molybdenum, which improves stability and permeability compared to standard permalloy.
Q2: Can 1J85 wire be used in transformers?
A2: Yes, it’s ideal for small precision transformers requiring high permeability.
Q3: Is heat treatment required after forming?
A3: Yes, optimal magnetic properties are achieved after annealing in a protective atmosphere.
